Dr. Patrick Ahana D.V.M
“Dr. Pat” was born and raised in Lihue, Kauai, and is the son of the late Hatsue and the late Ah Wo Ahana. He is married to the former Joanne Otsuka and they have two sons, Alek and Dr. Bryce. Dr. Ahana graduated from Kauai High School, the University of Hawaii, and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University (’78). He and Joanne started Kapaa Animal Clinic in 1982.

Dr. Ahana passed away on April 27, 2024, with his family surrounding him.  He dedicated his life to the welfare of animals and happiness of his family.  As a renowned veterinarian, he touched the lives of countless creatures and their human companions with his gentle demeanor and unwavering commitment to their well-being.

Dr. Bryce Ahana D.V.M.
Dr. Bryce Ahana was born and raised on Kauai, and is the son of the late Dr. Patrick Ahana and Joanne Ahana. He is married to the former Mistye Tanaka of Lihue. Dr. Bryce graduated from Kapaa High School, Kansas State University with a Bachelor Degree in Biology in 2004, and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 2013.
Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Bryce worked for Kapaa Animal Clinic as a veterinarian technician.
In his spare time, Dr. Bryce loves to do minor construction, play video games, and raise tropical fish. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, and his dog, Maru, a spoiled Shih Tzu.

 Dr. Fran Miyake D.V.M.
Dr. Fran Miyake grew up in Kapaa and Hanalei and is the daughter of the late Hiroshi and Patsy Azeka.  She graduated from Kapaa High School, attended the University of Hawaii, and received her DVM degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison (Class of 1992).
Dr. Azeka worked at Pittsford Animal Hospital in New York and has been a dedicated and compassionate doctor at Kapaa Animal Clinic since 1993.
She is married to Karl Miyake.  Her pet menagerie includes 3 dogs, Phoebe, Nell and RC; 6 cats, Lily, Charlie, Jimmy, Koko, B.B and The Kracken.  In her spare time, she enjoys photography, sewing, beading, glass etching, and traveling.

​Dr. Christie Muraoka Polloi D.V.M.
Dr. Polloi was born and raised on Kauai. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 2002 and Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2003, both from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She received her Doctorates in Veterinary Medicine in 2007 from Tuskegee University in Alabama. Upon graduation, she was very fortunate to come home and join the Kapaa Animal Clinic.
She enjoys spending her time with her husband and three children.

Dr. Jessica Jackson D.V.M.
Dr. Jessica Jackson was born and raised in New Zealand, where she spent her childhood on a farm in a small town. At 18, she moved to Canada to pursue a career in animal science, where she met her husband, Corey. The couple lived in Canada for 14 years, during which time Dr. Jackson earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. After completing her education, she chose to continue her career on the island of Kauai, eager to return to the Pacific and embrace new opportunities. Since the start of 2024, she has been a valued member of the Kapaa Animal Clinic team. Outside of work, Dr. Jackson contributes to a local organization, KCCP, and helps care for sea turtles in need. She also enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their dog, Shiloh, exploring the island’s beautiful beaches and local areas.
