Dr. Patrick Ahana D.V.M
“Dr. Pat” was born and raised in Lihue, Kauai, and is the son of Hatsue and the late Ah Wo Ahana. He is married to the former Joanne Otsuka and they have two sons, Alek and Dr. Bryce. Dr. Ahana graduated from Kauai High School, the University of Hawaii, and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University (’78). He and Joanne (Manager of the clinic) started Kapaa Animal Clinic in 1982.
Dr. Ahana is a general practitioner veterinarian and will examine and treat “almost any animal that can be carried through the front door.” His special interest is performing simple spay/neuters to the more complicated orthopedic surgeries. Dr. Pat wishes to thank Kauaians for voting him Best Veterinarian in the Garden Island Newspaper Poll Best of Kauai in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and many years thereafter.
In his spare time, Dr. Pat loves to golf, bowl, and grow fruit trees. His “furry daughter”, Fu Ling, a Shih Tzu cross, usually tags along with him and is always dressed in the latest doggy fashions.
Dr. Bryce Ahana D.V.M.
Dr. Bryce Ahana was born and raised on Kauai, and is the son of Dr. Patrick Ahana and Joanne Ahana. He is married to the former Mistye Tanaka of Lihue. Dr. Bryce graduated from Kapaa High School, Kansas State University with a Bachelor Degree in Biology in 2004, and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 2013.
Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Bryce worked for Kapaa Animal Clinic as a veterinarian technician.
In his spare time, Dr. Bryce loves to play video games, fly RC airplanes and helicopters, and raise tropical fish and aquarium plants. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and his dog, Sari, a spoiled Shih Tzu.
Dr. Fran Miyake D.V.M.
Dr. Fran Miyake grew up in Kapaa and Hanalei and is the daughter of the late Hiroshi and Patsy Azeka. She graduated from Kapaa High School, attended the University of Hawaii, and received her DVM degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison (Class of 1992).
Dr. Azeka worked at Pittsford Animal Hospital in New York and has been a dedicated and compassionate doctor at Kapaa Animal Clinic since 1993.
She is married to Karl Miyake. Her pet menagerie includes 3 dogs, Phoebe, Nell and RC; 5 cats, Lily, Charlie, Jimmy, Missy and Koko. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, sewing, beading, glass etching, and traveling.
Dr. Christie Muraoka Polloi
Dr. Polloi was born and raised on Kauai. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 2002 and Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2003, both from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She received her Doctorates in Veterinary Medicine in 2007 from Tuskegee University in Alabama. Upon graduation, she was very fortunate to come home and join the Kapaa Animal Clinic.
She enjoys spending her time with her husband, two children, and a very spoiled Chihuahua, Kiki.
